The Z 50000, commonly called Francilien or NAT (Nouvelle Automotrice Transilien), is an articulated single-stage electric self-propelled train designed for the Île-de-France suburban network. Commissioned by Île-de-France Mobilités and the SNCF to modernize the suburban train fleet, it was built by the railway manufacturer Bombardier Transport (now Alstom) and put into service from the end of 2009.
This equipment is characterized by its "boa" type articulated architecture, without separation between the cars, offering a continuous interior space that facilitates passenger traffic and optimizes capacity on board. Designed specifically for short and medium-distance, high-traffic journeys, the Z 50000 has wide doors to speed up traffic at the station, a low floor to facilitate accessibility, as well as a state-of-the-art air conditioning system and passenger information screens. It currently runs on several key lines of the Transilien network (notably lines H, J, K, L and P).
